Mai Otome

Mai Otome, or Mai ZHiME, is the sequel of the quite succesful story Mai HiME. The anime centers around Yumemiya Arika, who enters Garderobe with the wish to become an Otome. Otome are young girls who are trained to one day protect the royal leaders throughout the lands. Arika leads a happy life with her friends, but little does she know that she's involved with a war that occured 14 years ago.. and consequences from it we still see today. With happy, sad, angsty and exciting events, Mai Otome is a serie you can't miss out on.

Manga

The manga of Mai Otome shares a few resemblances with the Mai HiME manga. For example, both have a different plot from the anime, a male protagonist and are both more ecchi-tinted than their animation. The manga serialization started in August 2005 and recently ended with 44 chapters.

ZHiME Concept

The following was written by Janice.
HiME stands for Highly-advanced Materialized Equipment, which is a generic term used to address a group of female combatants with abilities to materialize a part of their bodies as weapons or special attacks during battles. Statistically speaking, a fully materialized HiME will gain superhuman strength as well as better battle tactics, thus bestowed a battle ability equivalent to that of tens and even hundreds of ordinary militants.

Unlike in Mai HiME where the ability of a HiME is 100% inheritive, the opportunity to become a full pledged ZHiME a.k.a. Otome is given to young females across the world with equality at Garderobe, the school where all Otome are educated by combining physical/mental trainings along with Nanomachine (the central computer system which is used to both awake/strengthen one's ability as an Otome as well as to monitor an Otome's activity statistically during combats) synchlorization. As only 14-16 years old females are seeked by Garderobe as potential entrants and the school itself has a rather strict system of hierarchy, it appears that only a very limited number of Garderobe graduates will be given the title of a full Otome and assigned to their respective masters plus missions world-wide. Overall, the position of Otome is an ideal job for many young girls in the world of Mai Otome.

Crystal SOS?

This fanlisting was first created and called Crystal SOS under the ownership of Janice. I thought it was a really appropriate name, and decided to keep it. I quote:

This site was named Crystal SOS due to the fact that crystals are important symbols in Mai Otome while SOS hints at the main objective of Otome - to fight for world peace.
